Unwanted Medway furniture can now go to a new home

UNWANTED household furniture can now go to a good home via Medway's three household waste recycling centres.
A new scheme launched this month called the Abacus Furniture Project now makes regular visits to the sites to look for second hand items which can be sold at low prices to families in need, while also preventing the items going to landfill.
If taken by the scheme, they will be available to buy from the Abacus store in Cuxton Road, Strood.
The re-use project is run by Medway Council and portfolio holder for frontline services Councillor Phil Filmer said: "This is an excellent initiative to help people to be able furnish their homes affordably while ensuring as many items as possible are recycled rather than going to landfill.
"So I would urge people to use Medway's household recycling centres as the best way dispose of unwanted furniture."
