The university will open its doors to the public between 11am - 5pm, to participate in free drop-in workshops to create stunning light portraits. The workshops are focused on movement, sports and joy, encouraging people to create their own Olympic light portals.
The images will be projected onto the exterior of UCA Rochester's iconic Fort Pitt campus and should be seen all across Medway later that evening. Images from the day will also be uploaded to www.facebook.com/torchrelaylightprojectUCARochester
Widening Participation co-ordinator and Visual Artist at UCA, Tine Bech, said: "Events, such at the Olympics, don't come around every day so we wanted to organise something which involved the local community in the arts and reflects the spirit of the Olympics through colour, light and movement.
"We hope lots of people will come up to the university and have a go at the workshops which are a positive and playful experience. We'll then project the images onto the building that night to create a unique work of art that has been created by the local community for the local community."
The light workshops are suitable for all ages. No previous experience or skill is needed. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
