Eleven year old Cam Edmonds is one of the deserving people who will carry the Olympic Torch on its journey through Kent to London.

Cam with mum and dad, Lisa and Rob, will carry the torch through Broadstairs

The Olympic Torch's route through Rochester
Cam, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, has kept his nomination secret for months but mum Lisa was finally able to break the news to friends and family this week and was inundated with congratulations.
She posted on her Facebook timeline: "Very very proud to announce the news we've been hiding for a few months! Cam was nominated by his school! to carry the olympic torch, and has been chosen!!!! He will carry it on 19th July in Broadstairs!! More details to follow! He's one amazing little boy who derves this so much!! Well done little man!!"
You may remember the earlier story about the 'Get Cam In' campaign and it's great to advise that much work has taken place since then, with the wet room and kitchen both taking shape nicely. If anyone could lend a hand fitting skirting and doors, it would be much appreciated - see the link for the full story and contact details.
8,000 torch bearers will bear the iconic beacon to its destination, taking in as many landmarks as possible. It will wend its way through Medway on Friday 20th July and if you want to line the route and cheer them on, these are the places you need to be - early! And I mean early - it sets off at approximately 7.50am from the top of the A2/A231 junction Canterbury Street!
From approx. 7.50am through Gillingham: following Canterbury Street all the way along via Skinner Street and bearing left into Jeffrey Street; continuing on the A231 down Arden Street, Brompton Road and Wood Street before turning onto Dock Road into Chatham;
From approx. 8.05am through Chatham: Right into Globe Lane from Dock Road, then right into Medway Street and following into Rochester High Street;
From approx. 8.30am through Rochester: Continuing along the High Street and St.Margaret's Banks; left into Victoria Street; then East Row and Vines Lane (alongside the park) before turning right into St.Margaret's Street and onto Boley Hill, between the Castle and Cathedral. The crew will be taking a break here before continuing from Boley Hill via Northgate to Corporation Street and heading across the bridge to Strood. They will then follow the A2 High Street, Commercial Road and turn right at Castle Road, taking the A226 Gravesend Road as far as the 'Thank You For Visiting Medway' sign. They will then move in convoy with the torch out of public sight until rejoining the A226 at Copperfield Road at approximately 9.35am and proceeding through Higham to the 50 speed sign.
I think a flask of coffee and some brekkie-type nibbles could be order of the day! See you along there somewhere :)
You can entire route, street by street, here.
