Local MP Mark Reckless has become involved with hundreds of other local people in an appeal to find the missing Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy, Rocco, stolen recently from a house in Strood.

The Facebook group, Who Stole Rocco, now numbers over 1300 members, all raising awareness to help find the eleven week old puppy and return him safely to his owner, Lucy. Rocco, who is tan coloured with a white chest, was stolen along with a safe on January 19th.

Mark Reckless is using his website to publicise the search and asks for anyone with information on the theft to contact the owners via their email: [email protected] or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Commenting on the case, Mark said:

"The owners of the puppy are obviously very distressed at the loss. I am only too happy to help highlight the case via my website and social networks. I hope that it leads to the early return of Rocco to his rightful owners."

Denise Ford of Doglost.co.uk, co-ordinating the search, appealed directly to the thieves, saying they can hand Rocco over safely and without fuss to her, by contacting her on 07702 862937.

And to lessen the chances of a theft like this happening to anyone else, the Marlowe Park vets practice at Wells Road in Strood, is offering dog chipping for half price - £15 – until the end of the month, so do take advantage.

Possibly coincidentally or possibly not – there has also been a safe theft from Sherwin Knight school, with eye witness reports of the perpetrators suggesting a likeness to the thieves who took Rocco. If you have any information that can lead to the safe return of Rocco to Lucy, please do get in contact as soon as possible.
