MEDWAY residents have the opportunity to have their say about designs for a new £26m railway station in Rochester.
-
Could this be Rochester's new train station by the end of 2015?
Network Rail published the proposed design for the station yesterday - and are due to submit a formal planning application to Medway Council later this spring.
Representatives from the rail firm will be on hand for members of the public to speak to at Rochester station from 7am to 10.30am and 4pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday 10 April to Friday 12 April.
Details will also be available at a display at Medway Council offices at Gun Wharf, Chatham, on the same dates.
What do you think of the plans? Do you like the design for the new station? Let us know by leaving a comment below, or emailing [email protected].

It's an excellent idea and really needs to be done anyway.
With the Rochester Riverside development now being constructed, the new location will be better for access to the population, the present location is generally awkward (though more convenient for me personally, but that doesn't matter) and the tatty old station needs something done about it before much longer.
Combining all of that into a modern station in a much better location is the right way to go. Hopefully the detailed plans will soon be available for public inspection; but I can't imagine there will be much if anything of concern, based on other railway station developments in recent years.
Incidentally, though not critical, the British term 'railway station' is probably better than the American 'train station', as it is stationed permanently beside the railway. Trains come and go from time to time...
