Where Will Rochester People Be Watching The World Cup?

South Africa is a few thousand miles away from Rochester, but the football World Cup will have a major effect on our environment: the streets of our towns and villages will no doubt be eerily quiet during June. Well, until closing time, anyway!

No! You DO count the keeper *jeez* how many more times? South Africa World Cup 2010
England will begin their South African campaign to bring home the World Cup at 7.30pm on Saturday 12th June, in their first group match against the USA. According to my sources (Evokid8) Wetherspoon’s The Golden Lion in Rochester High Street will be the place to be, to savour the atmosphere and enjoy a winning start to a successful run. Or to suffer the embarrassment of losing to a team playing Wolverhampton Wanderer’s goalkeeper and ending up crying like girls. Whatever.
The remaining group matches are versus Algeria at 7.30pm on Friday 18th June and Slovenia at 3pm on Wednesday 23rd June (Hm – bosses, brace yourselves for huge amounts of sickies!)
I know there are women who love football; more women I know would rather stick pins in their eyes than watch an overpaid bunch of tarts rolling around the floor, moaning (and many more men will gladly pay for that also) but there’ll be no getting away from it next month! So the guys will try their best to explain the offside rule in a way we can understand i.e. involving food, while we nod politely and say “Yes, darling. Where’s your credit card?” And if not shopping, ladies – what will you be doing to while away the hours he ignores you?
Anyhoo, what we also want to know is - whose local has the biggest telly and is planning any special events? Because if we do win, we'll all want to be there!
