Was it really that long ago?

70 years to be exact, that heralded the start of meat rationing in these parts.

Wartime ration books
Readers of the local news paper had been advised the week before to register as soon as possible, and claim coupons that would get adults 1/10d worth of meat a week (11d for children).
Coupons weren't needed for any product containing less than 50% meat (liver, tripe, oxtail) or from catering establishments, such as schools and restaurants, as these were rationed at source.
We take so much for granted these days - if you can remember those days, share your memories with us and let us know how you coped on rations.
