The figures for pupils secondary school choices have been released, with 2634 from 3123 Medway pupils being allocated their first choice secondary school, which equates to almost 17 out of 20, way above the national average of 12 from 20. 96.54% of all pupils were allocated one of their first three choices, with 108 offered a school outside their first three; presumably some of these will appeal and win, which could improve the figures still further.

The latest statistics also showed Rochester schools to be at the top and bottom of the table for attendance in Medway, with the former Chapter school, now merged into the Strood Academy with Temple school, bottom with 3.6% unauthorised attendance, while Rochester Maths and Rochester Grammar for Girls, tied at the top on 0.2%. Hundred of Hoo, Temple and Thomas Aveling filled the gap on 1.0%, 2.2% and 2.7% respectively.   All the children in Medway who passed the 11+ were offered a grammar school place.

Are you a parent or student appealing for a place at a different school to the one allocated to you? Tell your story here and let us know how you get on.

Not a worried parent this year, but next year I will be! I've taken comfort that those children in Medway who passed the eleven plus, did get offered a place at grammar - seems a lot of hard work to go through and then not get in otherwise.
