We all know of a legendary local character, whether it’s the local vet, the campaigner for the local community, the lollipop lady, the 4x4 driver who helped out in the snow or simply your best mate! Anyone come to mind? Nominate them and they could become the face of our next BIG advertising campaign!

Rochester People will be running the ‘Local Legend’ campaign from next week and we’ll be in Rochester High Street on Wednesday morning with a camera crew for a vox-pops session, to find out who you’re nominating and why!

You can nominate your Local Legend here on site from Monday and the campaign will run for a whole month, till February 17th. Voting will then take place between 18th February and 7th March, with the winner being announced on March 15th.

Our brand new promotional campaign, comprising radio, print and digital advertising, coincides with the nomination period and the eventual winner will feature on our town centre billboard in the summer - so if you know of someone who deserves recognition, here’s your chance to help them get it!

Hi... I could name a few local leg-ends.. .. My first nomination would be Chris Webb the old Medway licensing manager for dishing out the FOUR alcohol licenses to the small parade of shops on the Delce Road. My second nomination would go to Alison Poulson who allowed the FITH off license to operate..

Hi Chris, the nomination button is live now, if you'd like to add Ray to the list :-)

I'd like to nominate Ray, the guy who picks the litter on Rochester High Street and is a constant source of amusing anecdotes. Don't know his surname, but I'm sure you must know who I mean. Top bloke and worthy of the award for keeping our streets clean, and is the eyes and ears of the community. Happy to participate.
