So what do we think of the Prime Minister's Big Society idea? The comedians on Mock The Week were pretty derisory and, I think, a little out of touch with how the people in villages might actually feel - with post offices, shops and pubs closing that would affect the viability of the village, wouldn't the villages themselves WANT to do something about it, without the restrictions of local authorities? Bearing in mind how many village societies and voluntary groups I've come across since starting Rochester People, I think there's a will there. What do you think?
