Does anyone have any idea what the roadworks in Rochester by the bridge are designed to achieve and when they will be finished? Similarly, what's the plan with the roadworks in Chatham which seem to be cutting off the entire area now that the road is closed where the new bus garage is being built? There is no end to roadworks in this area and I am struggling to understand what the ultimate benefits are going to be. Can anybody shed any light?

Apparently the Rochester Bridge ones are to put in a bus lane and the Chatham ones are all part of the general regeneration, with hotels and residential homes planned for there too :-)

Many thanks for the post and the link - I am yet to be convinced that it will bring any benefits to driving around the area, though. May well end up looking much nicer but not helpful for drivers! We'll see...!
