The family of murdered Chatham woman, Surjit Kaur, have been left devastated, as the case against the two men arrested in connection with the killing has apparently collapsed.
Mrs. Kaur was visiting relatives in the Punjab district of India earlier in the year, but disappeared less than two months into the trip. Her beheaded body was later found 800 miles away from the home she was staying in, with reports suggesting that a family feud about money was at the heart of the case.
Two men, distantly related to Mrs Kaur, had been arrested in connection with her murder and according to Mrs Kaura's son, Baljinder, they last month confessed to the killing. However, Baljinder has now revealed that a key wintess declined to offer evidence and the case was thrown out.
Rainham and Gillingham MP, Rehman Chishti, is taking the case forward with the Foreign Office, to put pressure on the appropriate authorities in India and ensure justice for Mrs Kaur's family.
