POLICE have arrested a man from Rochester after vehicles were stolen in Medway and Aylesford.
The 34-year-old was arrested after being stopped in a vehicle on the M25 near Orpington on the evening of 10 January.
Officers used automatic number plate recognition cameras to stop two vehicles - one including the Rochester man.
Three other men - a 27-year-old from Middlesex, a 25-year-old from Croydon and a 66-year-old from Southwark - were also arrested on suspicion of theft.
They were questioned by officers, before being released on bail pending further investigation until 5 March.
Detectives are investigating the theft of transit vans and tippers across Kent, and a number of vehicles were reported stolen between 19 December and 10 January.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Raj Dusanjh said: "Many of the vans that have been targeted have had valuables such as tools or building supplies in them.
"With the four arrests we have made our investigation is making good progress, but I would encourage people to remove all valuables from their vehicles before leaving them unattended.
"Where possible, owners should leave their vehicles in a garage, or a secure car park or well lit area to deter thieves."
