A PROLIFIC Medway burglar who committed a string of break-ins in Rochester has been jailed for 30 months.

Kenneth Frank Mills was charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary. All five crimes took place on October 4 last year.

The 35-year-old, formerly of Maidstone Road in Chatham, pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced on December 16.

Mills was apprehended after police were called to a house in Rochester following reports of a break-in at the property.

The hapless crook was found hiding in bushes nearby by officers and had to be taken to hospital as a result of injuries sustained jumping from a conservatory roof.

Detective Constable Rob Sircar said: "Mills is a prolific burglar who has brought misery to people through his criminal activity.

"Burglary is an extremely upsetting crime for the victims, not only because of the loss of items but because of the invasion of their private space. I am pleased that the courts have recognised the severity of Mill's crimes and have given him a significant custodial sentence."
