Mother and child die in Chatham Hill fire this morning.

News today of another fire in Medway - this one was definitely arson and with tragic consequences, as a young mother and her young son were unable to be rescued with three other family members. Our thoughts go out to their family and friends for this awful loss. 

Who are these people with so little regard for life to do such a thing? Kent Police have made two arrests and are appealing for witnesses. From their Twitter stream:

"It is understood that the two men arrested were known to the victims. They're in police custody as part of what is now a murder enquiry.

We still want to hear from you if were in the Chatham Hill area at around 2.30am and saw or heard anything suspicious. Call 01622 690 690."
