One of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations in Britain takes place this weekend in Medway.

Dancers in flamboyant Chinese costumes will brighten the Waterfront Way area of Chatham between 11.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday, alongside other entertainment and stalls selling Chinese food and gifts. Then on Sunday, the magnificent Medway Chinese New Year Parade will leave Military Road at midday, featuring dragons, lion and unicorn dancers, ending at the Central Theatre at 2.30pm.

The Chinese New Year Show at the Central Theatre will take place on Sunday evening and features all the dancers, Chinese pop and traditional music, plus special guest. Tickets for that are £8 (£6 concessions) and can be bought on line at www.medwayticketslive.co.uk or by phone from 01634 338338.

The Dragon is the mightiest of the Chinese Zodiac signs and symbolises character traits such as dominance and ambition, passion and enthusiasm. They prefer to live by their own rules and are usually successful if left to it, as they're driven, unafraid of challenges and willing to take risks. Although dragons have hot tempers, they're always willing to help others but can suffer stress, although they're generally healthy overall.

In life, a jobs that lets the dragon express its creativity is a fulfilling choice, while in love, the dragon will commit but wish to retain their independence. An ideal mate is someone they find intruging!

Are you a dragon? You need to have been born in the following years: 1904-1916-1928-1940-1952-1964-1976-1988-2000-2012 Do the character traits describe you? Or are they wildly wrong?
