Emergency services were called to the River Medway at Cuxton today, after reports that a man was seen in the water.

The RAF Search and rescue helicopter was scrambled to the scene to aid the search, alongside the police, Kent Fire and Rescue, the coastguard and Sheerness inshore lifeboat. The search ended at around midday when the man's body was found and taken to Medway Bridge Marina.

Our condolences to the family and friends of the as yet un-named man.
