Man dies in fall from M2 Motorway Bridge

Emergency services were called to the River Medway at Cuxton today, after reports that a man was seen in the water.

A man fell to his death from the M2 bridge today.
The RAF Search and rescue helicopter was scrambled to the scene to aid the search, alongside the police, Kent Fire and Rescue, the coastguard and Sheerness inshore lifeboat. The search ended at around midday when the man's body was found and taken to Medway Bridge Marina.
Our condolences to the family and friends of the as yet un-named man.

The man has now been named as Philip Ball, 50, from Eynsford Road in Swanley. He is said to have died from multiple injuries from his fall into the Medway and a full inquest will be held at a later date.
