Local actors who worked as background artistes on the movies version of Les Miserables will be getting a taste of the red carpet tonight.

The Rochester Film Society will be screening the film at the Chatham Dockyard Odeon tonight, and have invited the 'extras' along as special guests. The Odeon has laid on a red carpet for the actors to walk along, and film society Chairman Nick Walker, will be giving them an on-stage introduction before the film.

After the showing a special question-and-answer session led by actors Karol Steele, Victoria Ley, Roger Bugg and Celia Learmonth will be held, where audience members can ask the four about the making of the film last year in Chatham's Historic Dockyard.

Karol said: "One of the most fantastic experiences of my acting career - hard work but rewarding. The highlights must be being chosen by Liam Steele (the choreographer) to be the one to stand next to Anne Hathaway during the song because he thought I was the best mover; and then accidently telling Hugh Jackman to b*gg*r off (jokingly) when he started teasing me while I was practicing because I didn't recognise him under his shaggy beard!"

Roger's said: "I was fortunate enough to be chosen to do a very personal begging scene with Hugh and Amanda (which is actually in the film) be it only for a few seconds, but I am in the film 12 times in all and, as a result of standing about with them between takes, I was able to chat with both Hugh and Sacha, which I can tell you, was great fun especially when they both started singing daft songs!"

Celia: "I had a fantastic time body-doubling for both Anne Hathaway and Sam Barks, and have many lovely anecdotes of my time with them!"

Victoria: "I had the opportunity to chat to Helena Bonham-Carter between takes about horse-riding and the proper way to wear our corsets. On my second day on set I brought in some of my home-baking - and even Tom Hopper started tucking into my flapjacks."

The red carpet parade starts at 7.30pm.
