The Rochester and Chatham Dickens Fellowship raised much needed funds at the Trading Boundaries Christmas Food Fayre in Uckfield, East Sussex.

Spreading their wings in efforts to raise the £100,000 needed to restore Charles Dickens' Swiss Chalet, currently situated in Eastgate House Gardens, the Victorian costumed fellowship members proved to be a big hit with visitors to the Sussex shopping extravaganza.

The Fellowship was joined by Mark Dickens, great great grandson of the novelist, head of the Dickens family and President of the Dickens Fellowship International. Member David Hawes said: "It was a great honour having Mark join us and help revitalise our efforts to save the Swiss Chalet, the most iconic building in British literature. £100.00 was raised and even Queen Victoria herself (Fellowship member Victoria Biddlecombe) seemed mildly amused!"
