The leaves have fallen from the trees and there’s a chill in the air. You can see your breath in the morning cold and if they haven’t already the boots, scarves and gloves will soon be making an appearance. As the season changes outside so does your home inside, the heating comes on, the curtains are drawn and the lights are switched on early.
The colours outside change from bright yellows and fresh greens to deep oranges, reds and browns and the sky turns from clear blue to a misty grey. If you’re not inspired to by the colder, darker season don’t let it put you off making home improvements. This autumn’s interior trends and designs will give you a comfortable and cosy hide out that will have you wishing the winter would last even longer.
Baby its cold outside
Through the winter months we all want to stay in the warmth of our lovely heated homes but even here it can be hard to pull yourself from the hot, steamy shower or drag yourself from the warm, comfy bed. During the winter season you’re going to need something to help you get into gear and get you out of the house. Investing in a new winter coat and some warm woolly clothes will help you get in the mood to face the great outdoors and show off your new season’s style. If this fails, a

50 shades of grey
The sky outside may be a dull grey that seems to make the days merge into the nights but there are so many more exciting shades when it comes to home decoration. From funky, metallic silvers to cool, sharp slates grey is the colour of the season and can easily be incorporated into your interior design from the wall colour to the furniture. The greatest thing about grey is that it’s a neutral colour that can be taken through the seasons and incorporated into almost any redecoration project. Some people try to avoid it because they think it makes a room seem cold but throw in some different textures, warm beiges and add a splash of your favourite colour to warm up any shade of grey.
All the leaves are brown
If you’re struggling for some colour creation all you have to do is look out of your window. The broody, forest greens and the rich, fiery reds make for some perfect colour inspiration that will help bring the outdoors into your home. Incorporate nature’s colours through accessories or choose a feature wall to adorn with your chosen paint or wallpaper to give your room a relatively quick and easy autumn makeover.
